Drinking more water – I have recently cut down significantly on fizzy drinks and have swapped my cans of coke and fizzy orange for bottled water. It’s working out a lot cheaper on our weekly food shop and I am feeling so much better in myself already since swapping. I am feeling less anxious too which is nice as it means I am achieving more. I recently found out that water actually dissolves minerals and nutrients making them more accessible for your body to absorb. Drinking water is essential for your kidneys to work properly so its super important to make sure that you are drinking enough. I always have a bottle of water with me when I’m out.
Eating a well balanced and healthy diet – I’m trying to add more fruit and vegetables into our diets and trying really hard to cut out the unhealthy snacks like chocolate and packets of crisps. I never used to eat breakfast and would just grab a few biscuits on my way out the house but I have recently made more of an effort to sit down and eat breakfast with the girls. I have been adding extra veggies into our dinners as I always feel really lethargic if I eat unhealthy foods (especially things like takeaways). Making more of an effort to eat well has been fun and although its not always cheaper – its so much better for you.
Natural light – it has been scientifically proven that natural lighting improves your psychological wellbeing. Letting natural light into your home can reduce your stress levels and getting enough sun will make you feel good too. We dont get alot of sun in our flat as we are ground floor and quite low down however when we move I will be making sure that we move into somewhere that gets alot of natural light coming in – ideally somewhere with a conservatory as glass roofs are a great way of letting the natural light in. I love sitting under the window and I make sure that I open the windows each morning as part of my daily routine to let the fresh air in.
Getting enough sleep – sleep is so so important because it plays a vital role in good health and wellbeing throughout your life. I havent been getting alot of it lately with my girls being poorly but trust me you can feel the difference when you haven’t had a good nights sleep. Did you know that getting enough sleep can protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life and safety. It is super important. I have been going to bed not long after the girls and although I don’t fall straight to sleep, I’m relaxing and getting myself ready for bed.
Skincare routine – this is completely new to me, I’ve always taken my makeup off and washed my face with baby wipes but have recently invested in some skincare products and it has changed my life. My skin feels so much better, I’m getting less spots, it looks better and because it looks better – I feel better in myself.
I hope this post reminds you to take care of yourself today.
