A fun & creative meal idea for Halloween, ‘Stuffed Spaghetti Peppers’ this is ideal for getting your little ones involved in the kitchen. When I was younger my mum would always make an effort with Halloween & she would always do sensory spaghetti & little challenges for us to try. Now that I’m a mum myself, I am totally rocking this ‘pinterest-mama-wannabe’ look, right? I came across the idea of a stuffed Halloween pepper on Pinterest, and noticed that Tamara had also created something similar here which she called “Spooky Bolognese”. I loved the idea and couldn’t help but want to try it out with my own toddler.
All you have to do is cook your spaghetti bolognese as you normally would & buy yourself a packet of peppers. I wanted to get an Orange pepper to represent a pumpkin as I felt like this would be more ‘halloween-ey’ however they only had the packs of 3 red, yellow & green. Simply cut the tops off of the peppers, scoop out the insides & wash them. Cut out the eyes, nose & mouth with a sharp knife & rub a little bit of sunflower/vegetable oil on them (not too much or it’ll go everywhere) place them on a baking tray & roast/bake them for around 8 minutes until soft. Once you have taken them out of the oven, leave them to cool down & carry on cooking your spag bol. Once the halloween peppers have cooled down, fill them with spaghetti & then a dollop of spaghetti bolognese. I then used a fork to pull the spaghetti through the mouth to make it look more halloween friendly. I feel like this is just a brilliant activity to do with your little ones and it would be a massive hit at a halloween party, don’t you think?
